Gill Attrill

Gill Attrill is a Senior Principal Psychologist, working within the National Offender Management Service. She currently holds responsibility for a wide range of violence programmes being delivered across both Prison and Probation Services in England and Wales. Gill has 15 years’ experience developing, implementing and evaluating specialised treatment programmes with complex and challenging offenders. She has focused particularly on developing approaches for offenders who are traditionally hard to engage, or where there is a paucity of evidence around what works.

The range of programmes Gill leads on include those for domestically violent men, complex female offenders, psychopathic and personality disordered offenders, individuals with emotion regulation difficulties and those who are at high risk for violent reoffending. Interventions to address violent extremism and gang related violence are more recent areas of emerging work. Gill’s experience of treatment design spans group based cognitive behavioural treatment programmes, complex interventions embedded within broader therapeutic environments, holistic and bespoke treatment pathways approaches and risk management interventions. Her aim is to create treatment which balances the need for flexibility, creativity and innovation with rigour and integrity.
