The Comprehensive Assessment of Psychopathic Personality (CAPP) is a new development in the field of psychopathy research and practice. It has been developed to measure a comprehensive range of psychopathic traits spanning multiple domains of functioning.
The CAPP assesses current dynamic features of the individual rather than presentation across the lifetime. The evaluation of psychopathic traits is independent of criminal behaviour making it a much more sensitive measure of personality than existing measures of psychopathy. It is therefore suitable for the detailed evaluation of change in clinical presentation over time. This training in the use of the institutional version of the CAPP is suitable for practitioners and researchers who are already trained in the assessment of psychopathy and who use structured assessments of personality disorder in their work with clients in forensic hospital or correctional settings.
While research on the instrument is ongoing, the CAPP can be used to make very detailed assessments of the personality presentations of clients, which will be a valuable contribution to work on clinical formulation and the measurement of change in response to treatment. The CAPP has been developed by David Cooke, Stephen Hart, Caroline Logan and Christine Michie. This two-day training workshop will be led by Caroline Logan. A technical manual along with training materials will provided at this course.
